St Patrick's day approaches and it must be time to set the trap. Of course we all set traps don't we??? I have set traps with my daughter since she was 5 which is a great activity, inviting much creativity and madness. Each year, we have to think up a better way to catch the little tinker, and Mark 3 is coming up this year!
Most designs start with a box that is painted and decorated, but the trap has to get more difficult. The simple Y shaped stick that held it up ready for capture, when he ran for the pot of gold chocolate coins when he knocked it down did not work. He was much smaller than we thought and ran past without knocking it down. He did such a great job on the chocolate he even left his little belt behind when it got too tight. There were some remnants of teeth marks in the last coin though.....
Last years had a door way with a pot of paint above it, we got him. But he left a trail of footprints on his way out the door.......then he painted a face on the toilet seat of himself pulling out his tongue and made the water green! Watch out for the tricks, the year before he painted our eggs green and left hand prints on the fridge door. We even have a shadow of him which he left like a calling card, what a sight!
From green M&M's to a bite mark on my ear - it is always a sight to behold the next morning to find out what he has done. A poem is a nice touch that he leaves along with the mess, of course he is always messy! We have had poems left by the Leprechaun, the Easter Bunny and even the Tooth Fairy.
Enjoy the day and maybe you will find a Pot of Gold - if, he is being kind this year..
